# API integration

## Create your API key and find your channel ID

Follow these steps to create an API source, copy your API key and retrieve your channel ID from the Bodyguard Dashboard.

### Create your API key

1. Log in to the Bodyguard Dashboard.
2. Click the **Settings** icon in the left sidebar, then select **Sources**.

4. Select **API**.

5. Enter a name for your source in the **Source name** field.
6. Select the **Moderation profile** you want to apply to this source.
7. Click **Save**. Your API source is created, along with its API key.

### Access and copy your API key

1. Go to **Settings \> Sources**.
2. Find your API source and click the **View details** icon on the right of its row.

3. In the **Source details** panel, scroll to the **API key** section.
4. Click the copy icon next to the key to copy it to your clipboard.

### Copy your channel ID

1. Go to **Settings \> Sources**.
2. Find your API source and click the **Open full page** icon on the right of its row.

3. Find the channel you want to use in the channel list.
4. Click the **Copy channel ID** icon on the right of its row to copy the ID to your clipboard.
